Manage doctors

Doctors are a shared list. You can add one mid-bill without leaving the counter, or manage the whole list from the Doctors screen.

Steps — add a doctor while billing

When the cart contains a Schedule H1 / X medicine, BitMed blocks the payment with the Prescription Details Required prompt. The prescriber goes in there.

1. Type into Search Doctor — a name or part of a registration number.

2. If the doctor is already saved, pick them from the results. Their name, specialization and registration number fill the prescriber fields for you.

3. If they are not saved yet, click Add New Doctor and enter their details.

4. The starred fields under Drug register — prescriber are mandatory — the dialog says so, and it will not let the bill through until they are filled.

5. Click Confirm & Proceed to return to the bill.

In the picture, 1 is the search box with an typed, 2 is the saved doctor it matched, 3 adds a doctor who is not on the list yet, 4 is the prescriber block that must be completed for Schedule H1 dispensing, and 5 confirms.

Steps — manage the doctor list

1. Open Doctors in the left menu, under PEOPLE.

2. Find a doctor with Search by name or registration no, or click Add Doctor at the top right to add one outside of a bill.

3. Use the row icons on the right — the pencil edits the doctor, and the crossed-out person deactivates a retired one. BitMed asks Deactivate doctor? first.

1 is Doctors in the sidebar, 2 searches the list, 3 adds a doctor, 4 is the Registration No column, and 5 is the edit / deactivate pair on each row.

Good to know

• Deactivating is not deleting. The doctor drops out of the list and out of the search on new bills, but bills that already name them keep their history.
• Registration numbers are unique within your pharmacy. If you type one that is already taken, BitMed shows you the existing doctor with a Use existing button, so you reuse the record instead of creating a look-alike.
