When to use this: when you want to check what's in stock — and understand what each number on the screen is actually telling you.
The stock screen
When you open Inventory, you land on the Stock Overview tab. This is the only tab that keeps working when you're offline — Expiry, Transfers, Audit, Supplier Returns and Rack Layout all need an internet connection.
Here's how to read it:
- Type in the Search products… box to find something fast.
- The coloured pills at the top are one-tap filters. The Stock health group sorts your whole store into All, OK, Low Stock, Out of Stock, and Expired. The Flags group adds Near Expiry. Tap any pill to see just those products. (The counts cover your whole store, not only the rows on screen.)
- The columns are Product, Category, Stock, Expired, Batches, Nearest Exp, Avg MRP,
Status, Coverage and Other Stores. The ones worth knowing:
- Stock is what you can actually sell right now — expired batches are left out.
- Expired shows expired units on their own, so they never puff up your salable count.
- Status is a quick badge: OK, LOW, OOS (out of stock) or EXP (expired).
- Coverage and Other Stores need internet, so they show "—" when you're offline.
Looking inside a product
Click any product to open its batch panel on the right — one card per batch.
The little summary at the top of the panel matches the grid. If the product has expired stock it reads Salable: X · Expired: Y (N batches); if not, it simply reads Total: Z (N batches). Each batch card shows the batch number, an expiry badge, its Stock, MRP, purchase rate and MFG/EXP dates — and buttons to print a label, generate a batch barcode, or Adjust stock.
Because the grid's Stock matches the panel's Salable, and the grid's Expired column matches the panel's Expired, the two views always agree. So if your salable count and expired count are different, that's normal — not a mistake. Those expired units just need clearing, either a write-off or a return (→ INV-03).
