Expiry management

On this page

When to use this: your monthly expiry check — catch stock before it expires (while you can still sell or return it), and clear out anything that already has.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory → Expiry Management. Stock is grouped into expiry buckets — Expired, 0–30 Days, 31–60 Days, 61–90 Days, and 90+ Days. Expand a bucket to view its batches, including the product name, batch number, expiry date, quantity, and value.
  2. Start with the near-expiry buckets. This stock is still sellable, and billing already sells the closest-to-expiry batches first. For anything slow-moving, send it back to the supplier while they'll still take it — Supplier Returns picks up these near-expiry batches for you (→ INV-07).

  3. Clear out the expired stock. Take it off the shelf, then open the Expired bucket and tap Write Off on each batch. BitMed asks you to confirm, sets that batch to zero, and records it in the audit log. Write-off is the only action on this screen.

Good to know

  • Expired batches can't be sold anyway — billing already skips them. Pulling them off the shelf is about safety and being ready for inspection.
  • Make this a fixed monthly habit; the inspection-readiness check looks for it (→ RPT-08).
