How to Apply Discounts on Bills

When to use this guide: To give a discount on a single item, apply a flat discount on the overall bill, or understand automatic customer discounts.

2 Ways to Apply Discounts in BitMed

1. Item Line Discount (Single Item)

On the item row, move your cursor to the Disc % field.
Type the discount percentage (for example, 10 for 10%), then press Enter.
BitMed will automatically recalculate the item total and GST.

2. Automatic Customer-Type Discount

When you link a registered customer (using F3), any special discount assigned to their customer category (such as Senior Citizen 5% or Regular Customer 10%) is applied to the bill automatically.

Manager / Supervisor Override

If you try to enter a discount that is higher than the maximum limit allowed for staff members, a Supervisor Override window will pop up.

An owner or pharmacist must enter their security PIN or approve the override before the higher discount can be applied.

Good to Know

GST Recalculation: All discounts are applied before GST calculations, so BitMed recalculates GST on the discounted amount automatically.
Prescription Medicines: Discounts can be given on prescription medicines, and they will still be recorded properly in statutory registers like Schedule H1.
